Four seatings for charitable event at local restaurant

AMHERSTBURG — Mealtime Express will be making the lives of children a bit better once again this year.
The local restaurant will be hosting their fourth annual Secret Santa Dinner Nov. 15 with proceeds going to help needy families this holiday season.
Owner Janet Mickle will close the restaurant that day at 2 p.m. and will re-open at 4 p.m. for the benefit’s first of four seatings.
“We have 55 seats available for each seating and usually sell out a week ahead,” said Janet and Norm Mickle. “All the kitchen help, servers, ticket sellers and many others are volunteering their time.”
Use of the restaurant is donated as well, along with all the food and beverages. Tickets are $15 each and the other sittings are 5:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
“Every penny of your $15 goes to the children. All monies collected go to the Secret Santa Program. This all happens with the generosity of the suppliers and sponsors of the program. All sponsors will be mentioned at each dinner and their names displayed at each table,” the Mickles state.
The dinner will be a three-piece broaster chicken dinner with fries, coleslaw, homemade bread, beverage, and dessert. There will be a 50/50 draw at every seating and Mealtime Express has been very fortunate to receive some great raffle prizes from our sponsors to sell tickets on. All raffle prize winners will be pulled at the 7:30 p.m. seating however customers do not have to present to win. There are take-out tickets available as well. If you have a take-out ticket, people are advised to be sure to call ahead for their pick-up time.
“Children from Amherstburg, Harrow, and Kingsville benefit from the Secret Santa program. Last year we helped 77 children in 33 families. The children received at least 6 gifts each, right from their Christmas wish list and each family received an awesome Christmas dinner with all the trimmings,” the Mickles add.
