Chamber of Commerce annual meeting coming Wednesday, November 4
Tourism Windsor-Essex-Pelee Island CEO Chris Ryan is keynote speaker

AMHERSTBURG — The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual general meeting and business excellence awards Nov. 4 at Fox Glen Golf Club in McGregor.
Cocktails will be served starting at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. The evening will consist of two guest speakers, the business excellence awards and the election of the new chamber board.
Chris Ryan, newly appointed CEO Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, will be the keynote speaker.
Topics of his address will include developing a regional approach to tourism and how this will benefit stakeholders through partnerships that will be developed. Ryan will also address the structure of the new entity and priorities moving forward on the tourist front.
The evening will also see an address from Manager of Development Services Jackie Hubbs. She is expected to speak about the $11 million CAF grant and the town’s beautification efforts.
Past president Ray Bezaire said the Chamber of Commerce has had a successful year.
“We’ve done a lot of networking events and fundraisers,” he said. “Membership is up. We’re planning a really exciting 2010.”
New additions to the business excellence awards are the Director’s Choice Awards. Three of those awards will be handed out and they will be going to the Shores of Erie International Wine Festival, the Gibson Gallery and the Town of Amherstburg. Amherstburg Vision Centre gets the Small Business of the Year while Jellystone Park gets the Large Business of the Year. A La Mode wins the award for Excellence in Customer Service while the Community Service/Community Involvement Award goes to Channel Resource Centre. Most Attractive Improvement Award goes to Riccardo’s Italian Restaurant while the Growth & Expansion Award goes to Timberwolf Forest Products. The Business Legacy/Long Term Service Award will be awarded to D’Angelo Estate Winery.
