AMHERSTBURG — Sharp Bus Lines are helping students stay safe in case of an emergency.

As all students in Windsor-Essex County have to learn what to do, Sharp Bus Lines was at Amherstburg Public School last Wednesday morning to teach all students what to do in case of a crash to the front of the bus. Students were given tips – everything from leaving bags and books in the seat to keep hands free to bending their knees while being assisted out the back door by the bus patrols – during the exercise.

Bus driver Cathy Klingbyle said the main message was to make sure the students are prepared in case something happens, such as a fire.

“It seems the kids are calmer in a situation when they know exactly what to expect,” said Klingbyle. “We want to make sure they are doing everything properly.”
